Negros Power Electrifies Underserved Communities Before Year-End

Negros Power has completed electrification projects in three underserved communities in Negros, bringing electricity to households that have long awaited access to power. The milestone highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to expand access to electricity across its franchise area.

On December 17, Sitio Bocboc in Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, saw 20 out of 35 households connected to the power grid for the first time. Local residents, government officials, and representatives from Negros Power attended the event despite challenging weather conditions.

Gina Tulis, a Sitio Bocboc resident, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We’ve lived in darkness for so long. Thanks to Negros Power, we now have lights and meters installed in our homes.”

Another electrification project was completed on December 20 in Purok 8, Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City. A total of 37 out of 64 households in the area were energized, with local government and barangay officials joining the residents to mark the occasion.

In Purok Citrus, Barangay Bunga, Municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto, the team faced logistical challenges, including a kilometer-long trek through difficult terrain, to deliver electricity to 47 households. Despite the effort required, the project was successfully completed, bringing relief to residents who had been waiting for this service.

“The whole community is overjoyed,” said Mayor Lawrence Marxlen Dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto. “We are thankful to Negros Power for helping us achieve this long-standing goal of electrifying our area.”

More sitios will be energized in the next three years,” he stated.

Negros Power President and CEO Roel Castro reiterated the company’s commitment to ensuring all communities under its franchise area are connected to electricity. “Every household deserves access to power, regardless of location. We will continue to work towards making this a reality,” he said.

The electrification projects in Sitio Bocboc, Purok 8, and Purok Citrus reflect Negros Power’s efforts to address the needs of underserved communities and improve the quality of life for residents. The company plans to continue these initiatives in the coming years to provide reliable electricity to more remote areas.
