Key Factors Behind the Rate Reduction

Several factors contributed to the decline in electricity rates, primarily driven by lower generation and transmission costs.

Lower Generation Costs
  • Temporary Baseload Discount – Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) introduced a Php 0.15 per kWh discount, applicable for the entire year of 2025.
  • Reduced Power Supply Agreement Rates – The Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) rate decreased from Php 6.1635 to Php 6.1368 per kWh, marking a reduction of Php 0.0267 per kWh.
  • Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) Price Drop – The cost of power sourced from WESM saw a significant reduction of Php 0.5142 per kWh.
Lower Transmission Charges
  • The average transmission charge was reduced due to lower ancillary service costs, resulting in overall savings of Php 273.8091 per kW.

Adjustment in FIT-ALL Rate

Alongside the rate reduction, the Feed-in Tariff Allowance (FIT-ALL) was adjusted from Php 0.0838 to Php 0.1189 per kWh, an increase of Php 0.0351 per kWh. This adjustment follows the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) resolution under Case No. 2023-096 RC, dated February 19, 2025.

Consumer Impact and Negros Power’s Commitment

The reduction in electricity rates translates to direct benefits for consumers, easing the financial burden of their monthly bills and providing them with more disposable income.

A representative from Negros Power shared, “We are pleased to announce this positive development for our customers. Our commitment is to provide reliable and affordable electricity, and we will continue to find ways to enhance our services and offer the best value.”

Negros Power remains dedicated to maintaining transparency and keeping customers informed about changes in electricity pricing. By ensuring cost-effective energy solutions, the company aims to sustain its efforts in delivering affordable and reliable power to the people of Central Negros.
