When I hear about Merzci I can’t help but think about their yummy pasalubong treats and all the other food they offer at incredibly affordable prices. Established in 1995 under the name Merci, the business has grown from being a small bakery selling bread in Libertad Market, Bacolod City into an establishment with more than 40 outlets. It’s likewise available in Canada, USA, and other parts of the world.

Since the MassKara Festival is fast approaching (held during the third week of October), an influx of tourists and revelers are expected to join in the festivities here in Bacolod, and for sure they’ll buy pasalubong for their loved ones courtesy of Merzci.

MERZCI PASALUBONG

Their pasalubong goodies though are very popular not just here in the country but worldwide. Among the favorites are Biscocho which is a baked bread topped with either condensed milk or butter; Barquillos, a rolled wafer stick snack; Piaya, a flat bread stuffed with muscovado-based syrup; Meringue, a baked delicacy made of confectioner sugar and whipped egg whites; and Napoleones, a sweet pastry that sandwiches custard filling in the middle and topped with a sugar glaze.

A variety of noodles like batchoy, sotanghon guisado, lomi, bihon guisado, pancit guisado, pancit molo, spaghetti, and palabok are on the menu.
