Negros Power, in a heartwarming gesture of appreciation, held its inaugural Lineman’s Day at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City on Saturday, November 23, 2024. This special celebration was dedicated to the linemen, the true backbone of the energy sector, who work tirelessly to restore power and ensure consumer safety, especially during challenging times.

Celebrating Linemen: Heroes of the Energy Sector

Lineman’s Day was designed to honor the dedication of linemen who work tirelessly to restore power, address consumer needs, and ensure the reliability of energy services, especially during calamities. NEPC President and CEO Roel Castro, who spearheaded the event, emphasized the importance of this annual celebration.

“This is our way of recognizing the dedication and hard work of our linemen. They are our heroes who risk their lives to serve the community,” Castro shared in his opening remarks.

Highlights of Lineman’s Day

The day’s festivities included various activities to celebrate and thank linemen for their efforts.

1. Dance Competition

The highlight of the event was the Dance Competition, where linemen formed groups and showcased their dancing skills. The winners were:

  • Champion: SLRP
  • 1st Runner-Up: Eagle Claw
  • 2nd Runner-Up: RJH
  • 3rd Runner-Up: N3B

Special awards were also given to standout performers:

  • Performer of the Year: Jerusalem Nando (N3B)
  • Mr. Suave: Stephen (SLRP)
  • Safety Darling of the Crowd: Pepe Brigoli

2. Raffle Prizes

To add excitement, a raffle draw was held, where attendees walked away with numerous prizes, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone present.

3. Tribute to a Fallen Hero

A poignant moment during the celebration was the tribute to Jessie James Torremocha, a lineman who passed away while on duty on September 15, 2024. Torremocha tragically fell during a clearing operation in Bacolod City and succumbed to his injuries after two days in a coma.

NEPC announced that future Lineman’s Day celebrations will be named in his honor to commemorate his bravery and sacrifice.

Annual Celebration Moving Forward
