Negros Power And BFP Team Up For Tree-Planting And Fire Safety

In a joint effort to promote environmental sustainability and fire prevention, Negros Power partnered with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in a large-scale tree-planting activity at Eco Park in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City. Held on March 5, 2025, the initiative underscored the shared commitment of both organizations to mitigating climate change and fostering a safer, greener future.
A United Front for Environmental Protection

Under the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” (In Fire Prevention, You Are Not Alone), the event aimed to highlight the critical role of environmental conservation in reducing fire risks. Trees act as natural firebreaks by increasing moisture in the air and soil while reducing the spread of flames. This initiative not only supports fire prevention but also contributes to long-term ecological benefits such as improved air quality and biodiversity conservation.
Bacolod City Fire Marshal, FSupt. Jenny Mae C. Masip, emphasized the urgency of taking proactive steps against climate change.
“We recognize the far-reaching consequences of climate change and are committed to sustainable solutions. Tree planting is one of the most effective ways to restore balance to our environment, and we are grateful for this collaboration with Negros Power,” Masip stated.
Community Engagement and Commitment

The tree-planting event brought together over 200 volunteers from various institutions and organizations, all eager to contribute to the cause. Participants successfully planted 500 Narra tree saplings, a species known for its durability and importance in reforestation efforts. The widespread support demonstrated the strong community dedication to environmental preservation.
Negros Power reinforced its role as an advocate for sustainability through its E.A.R.T.H. program (Eco Advocates for Restoration, Transformation, and Harmony), which actively promotes ecological initiatives.
“Sustainability and environmental responsibility are at the heart of our mission,” said Engr. Adrienne Carl S. Calvo, Pollution Control Officer of Negros Power. “We are proud to take part in this meaningful event, knowing that these trees will contribute to a healthier ecosystem and a more fire-resilient community.”
Looking Ahead: A Greener and Safer Future

This collaboration between Negros Power and BFP is part of a broader effort to integrate environmental consciousness with disaster prevention strategies. By engaging the community in proactive climate action, the initiative sets a precedent for future partnerships aimed at promoting sustainability and safety.
With continued commitment from both public and private sectors, the vision of a greener, more fire-resilient Negros is becoming a reality — one tree at a time.
