Negros Power Conducts Critical Maintenance At Mt. View Substation
Proactive upkeep reinforces the company’s long-term modernization plans
In its continuing efforts to deliver stable and high-quality electric service, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) has successfully completed a preventive maintenance operation at the Mt. View Substation in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City. Conducted on April 13, 2025, the activity underscores the company’s proactive stance on infrastructure reliability as part of its broader modernization and rehabilitation program.

The maintenance work began at 6:00 AM and concluded by noon, requiring a temporary power interruption in areas serviced by the Mt. View Substation. While the brief outage posed some inconvenience, many residents expressed support and understanding, recognizing the long-term benefits of the effort.
The operation involved the replacement of over 100 insulators and critical hotspot repairs — measures aimed at preventing unplanned outages and enhancing system performance. These technical upgrades are essential in ensuring that the substation operates at peak efficiency, especially as demand for electricity continues to grow.

Engineer Andy Besana, who supervised the maintenance, emphasized the role of such interventions in the company’s long-term plans. “This is part of our 5-Year Modernization and Rehabilitation Program. Regular preventive maintenance ensures that we minimize system disruptions while improving the overall reliability of the power supply,” he said.
Consumers like Maria Lopez, who experienced the interruption, shared a positive view of the activity. Speaking in the local dialect, she noted that although the outage was inconvenient, she appreciated the visibility and hard work of the crew. “They were working under the heat of the sun to make sure our power is reliable. That says a lot about their commitment,” she said.

Negros Power continues to reinforce its promise of dependable service through strategic infrastructure maintenance and upgrades. As the utility company moves forward with its modernization goals, consumers can expect consistent improvements in service delivery, safety, and responsiveness.
The recent maintenance at Mt. View Substation stands as a concrete example of how preventive action today helps avoid larger disruptions tomorrow — benefiting both the company and the communities it serves.
