Negros Power Ushers In The Holidays With Reduced Electricity Rates

Negros Power is brightening the Christmas season for its customers by lowering electricity rates this December. With the festive season in full swing, this welcome news brings both cheer and financial relief to households across Central Negros.

Significant Savings for Residential Customers

Starting December 16, 2024, residential customers will notice a reduced rate of Php 11.18 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on their December billings. This marks a decrease of 82 centavos per kWh compared to the previous month. For an average household consuming 200 kWh per month, this translates to savings of almost Php 164 — funds that can now be used for holiday feasts, gifts, or other celebrations.

The new rates apply to the billing cycle from November 16 to December 15, ensuring that consumers benefit during the heart of the holiday season.

Why the Reduction?

According to Roel Castro, President and Chief Executive Officer of Negros Power, the rate reduction is made possible due to lower blended generation rates from power suppliers at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). As a responsible distribution utility, Negros Power passes these savings directly to its customers.

Notably, the Distribution System and Metering charge remains unchanged at Php 1.18 per kWh, covering the utility’s operational costs.

A Commitment to Affordable Power

“We are pleased to pass on these savings to our customers during this special time of year,” said Castro. “Our commitment to providing affordable and reliable power remains steadfast, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that our customers enjoy the benefits of a stable and efficient power system.”

This reduction in electricity rates is a timely gift, reflecting Negros Power’s dedication to its customers and its role in making the holiday season brighter and more affordable for families.

Brightening Homes and Hearts This Christmas

The reduction in electricity rates goes beyond simple cost savings. It reflects Negros Power’s dedication to enhancing the lives of its customers during a season of togetherness and celebration. By ensuring affordable energy, the company not only powers homes but also supports cherished traditions and joyful gatherings. This initiative is a reminder of the positive impact a committed utility provider can have on the community, especially during the holidays.
