Tornado Causes Power Outages In Murcia And Alijis; Negros Power Launches Restoration Efforts

A powerful tornado struck Murcia Road near the Negros Power substation on the afternoon of March 6, 2025, causing significant power disruptions in the area. The extreme weather event led to outages along the Bacolod-Alijis 69 kV sub-transmission line, affecting electricity supply to the Alijis and Murcia substations, as well as nearby communities.
Impact on Power Supply
Residents and businesses in the affected areas experienced sudden power interruptions as the tornado passed through. Initial assessments indicate that fallen tree branches and debris became entangled in power lines, requiring immediate clearing and repair operations. Fortunately, there have been no reports of major structural damage to Negros Power’s facilities.
